As a couple of you know, I’m starting college very soon. I’ve talked about this briefly in a previous post (which you should give a read) and I mentioned making a series out of it.
So here it is! Welcome to the College Ramble! A new series right here on Fulton Ramblings. In this series, I’ll be writing about my day-to-day life, the things I’m learning, and the things I’m thinking about in college. So definitely a wide range of topics that will be at least loosely school related. Along with that, I’ll try to have some classmates write a post here and there, and maybe even do a video or two. I’m gonna keep the format loose and casual like the rest of this publication, there’s no post schedule, no topic is off limits, and no idea is too weird.
Now that that’s out of the way let’s get into part 0.
Over the past year and a half, I’ve been looking in, at, and applying for colleges. Samford wasn’t even on my radar until my mom dragged me into looking at it and ever since that tour it’s been my first choice. I got accepted back in December and was blessed with a hefty scholarship to offset that private school premium. I’ve done all the paperwork, been orientated, and even went to a welcome party. Now all that’s left is anticipation.
That and if I’m being honest, the smallest bit of stress. Ultimately though, that stress is part of the fun. I’m about to go live in a dorm, with some guy I barely know (Hi Mason!), start a whole new format of learning, and be able to make a lot more big and day-to-day decisions completely on my own. It’s exciting, nerve-racking, and I’m ready for it (probably).
I’m starting a chapter of life where I get to be more or less on my own and it’s exciting. I don’t know where all this is going to take me, I guess I’d like to work for a startup, do my own thing, or even go into the academic side. But for the moment, for the next four years, I’m excited about the things I’ll learn the people I’ll meet, and the memories I’ll make. It probably won’t be easy, I hope it isn’t, but I start in a week and plan on taking you, my dear reader, along for the ride.
I'm looking forward to parts 1 and so on. Classmate posts will be interesting, and videos will be to, so here's to let you know that at least I'd like to see them.
